On Thursday, 4th June 2026, our outreach team took vital neonatal health education directly into the heart of the community, launching a targeted awareness campaign at the local market.
Dressed in our signature yellow, the team engaged directly with vendors, shoppers, and families to deliver a simple, life-saving message: Spot it. Act fast. Avoid the myths.
Neonatal jaundice is a common and highly treatable condition in newborns. However, when left undiagnosed or untreated, severe jaundice can lead to irreversible brain damage or infant mortality.
The greatest barrier to timely treatment is often misinformation. Traditional myths—such as placing a jaundiced baby under standard household lightbulbs or administering herbal remedies—frequently cause dangerous delays in seeking clinical care. Because every hour counts, our mission focused on dismantling these misconceptions and emphasizing that professional phototherapy is the only safe, effective cure.
By taking our campaign to the bustling market, we successfully reached beyond parents to engage the broader family structure—including grandmothers, aunties, and neighbors. Building this collective awareness ensures that the entire community acts as a safety net to protect our most vulnerable newborns from their very first breath.
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who paused to listen, and to our dedicated volunteers whose passion made this outreach a success.
Jaundice doesn’t wait, and neither will we.
a. Yellowing of the skin, typically starting from the face and moving down the body.
b. Yellowing of the whites of the eyes (sclera).
c. Poor feeding, extreme lethargy, or difficulty waking the baby.
If you notice any of these signs within the first two weeks of life, visit the nearest medical facility immediately.
